Job Title: International Foundation Year Business Tutor

Specifically for international and EU students to prepare them for successful entry to Higher Education at either undergraduate or postgraduate level for Private International School in central London.

Hours of Work: Full Time (16-20 hours teaching per week) Part Time (4, 8 or 12 hours teaching per week), plus marking, planning and course

Working Pattern: depends on contract but Mon-Fri 8am-8pm

Contract Type: Permanent and Fixed Term Contracts (September – June) Available Location: Central London

Salary Range: £28,000- £31,000 per annum pro rata

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

To join our teaching team as the business tutor for the NCUK International Foundation Year programme. Delivering high standard business studies lessons to classes of up to 15 students, according to the NCUK syllabus, with focussed attention on student progress and assessment. Experience teaching subject at level 3-4 is desirable.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching the NCUK International Foundation Year Business Module
  • Designing course materials and formative assessment materials
  • Setting and marking formative assessments on NCUK online system
  • Marking summative coursework and giving timely feedback on drafts and final submissions
  • Marking formative and summative exams on NCUK online system
  • Reporting to NCUK on exams and coursework (completing markers reports)
  • Taking part in standardisation to ensure our marking is accurate
  • Contributing to pre-arrival subject materials
  • Completing weekly and monthly reports on the students’ progress
  • Attending team meetings, and student meetings
  • Providing additional material and resources to students who may require additional support

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • A relevant academic qualification at UK graduate level (Essential).
  • A recognised teaching qualification in relevant subject (Desirable).
  • Relevant teaching experience (Essential). Normally a minimum of two years. This experience should relate to the delivery of a Western-style syllabus using Western conventions and methodologies. Significant teaching/programme management experience at a reputable university may also be acceptable.
  • The ability to contribute to integrated teaching across the curriculum (Essential).
  • An understanding of UK/western higher education and the needs and requirements of international
  • students (Essential).
  • Direct experience of further and higher education in an international context (Essential).
  • Specific experience of education in the UK (Desirable).
  • Experience of the development of academic programmes (Desirable).
  • Experience of academic assessment and standards, and of quality assurance procedures (Desirable).
  • Experience of teaching non-native speakers of English (Desirable).
  • An understanding and appreciation of private sector education (Desirable).
  • Experience of living and working in the UK (Desirable).
